Security First

All websites that contains database-driven components (online shops, portals, forum communities) are safest when those builds and scripts are up to date. As the code distributors say, “upgrading is strongly recommended”. Once the build is finished and launched live this is the client's responsibility, either by maintenance agreement with us or by doing the work themselves. We all have multiple priorities competing for our attention, but please remember your website is a valuable business asset - don't make it easy for the hackers to ruin it!

More Phishing

Happy New Year! It seems 2012 heralds a spate of spam and really poor quality phishing (attempts to access your personal information). Remember Microsoft/your bank/building society/service provider are very unlikely to be contacting you. If they do they will NOT ask for your password, nor will they expect you to click on a link in their mail, nor download any attachments. All of these should be avoided. Fortunately they are lame attempts which will dupe only a very few of the most gullible people – make sure you're not one of them!

Unwelcome Visitors

The holiday season should be a time for relaxing. But worth mentioning that hackers love and actively target the festive season as their mischief often goes unnoticed for longer. So before you take time out to enjoy a well-earned break with the family make sure you are not leaving any back doors for unwelcome visitors. If you have an interactive site, check the software behind the build is fully up to date, that any security releases have been applied and off site backups have successfully completed.
